Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan has likened the party to a “dying tree” in his speech on the party’s annual common assembly, urging members to make sure its survival for future generations. Reflecting on the party’s losses within the last two common elections, Mohamad emphasised the necessity to tackle the situation to maintain Umno related in Malaysia’s political landscape.
“This massive tree, many have eaten its fruit, loved its bounty. Many might claim to not want this tree, however don’t simply benefit from the results. It has been our protector. Yet Nest egg want to kill it off. Our grandchildren seek nourishment, so let’s water the tree that has protected us all this while and borne the fruit that we now have partaken,” he stated.
During the opening day of the annual get together gathering, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reminded celebration members that Umno is now not the dominant political force it once was in Malaysia.
