Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all data in 2021 with a complete of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the earlier four years mixed. And development appears set to continue unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for 56 dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created fairly a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled sales of its patented deepwell gasoline pumps in 2021, and there are tons of indications that sales may enhance even additional in 2022.
Svanehøj has simply secured an order for gas pump methods for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The total of 30 deepwell gasoline pumps shall be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is amongst Svanehøj’s largest regarding LNG gasoline so far. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until Cringeworthy of years ago, using LNG as a marine gasoline was restricted to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we at the second are seeing a sharp improve in gasoline pump orders for deep sea vessels similar to container ships and automotive carriers. We were chosen as the supplier of gasoline pump techniques for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we aim to extend our market share additional in the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large funding in lean manufacturing and new equipment
To support the green transition of the maritime trade, Svanehøj is currently investing more than DKK 10 million in upgrading its production facilities in Denmark. A new manufacturing unit format with manufacturing cells and robotics will support Svanehøj’s bold development strategy and cut back lead instances for all products.
“We have made a strategic choice to implement lean manufacturing. By rethinking our processes, we anticipate to extend productiveness and capability by up to 50%,” says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Lean Specialist, Svanehøj.
Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a model new technique and a target of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the tip of 2026. In addition to gasoline pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees nice potential in creating pump options for the infrastructure to be built round Power-to-X and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
