Man City Legend Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visit Cityzens Giving Young Leaders in Mexico City to celebrate launch of expanded Xylem Water Heroes Academy

Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s world charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the growth of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a worldwide initiative in ten cities using the facility of football to sort out local water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 young leaders and delivered important water schooling to more than 6,000 younger people in 5 cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded community, which now also includes youth-led initiatives in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, aims to positively influence 20,000 more younger people over the following four years.
Graphical person interface<br/>Description mechanically generated with low confidence” winautomationvisibilitylandmark=”true”><br/>To mark the launch, Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visited the El Coyolito neighbourhood in Mexico City to meet Cityzens Giving Young Leaders who are using the power of soccer to resolve native water points.<br/>Despite heavy flooding and rainfall, Mexico City is facing a water shortage. More than 20 million residents wouldn’t have sufficient water to drink for practically half the yearand one in five individuals have entry to only a few hours of running water from their faucets per week.<br/>This project will see Young Leaders from love.fútbol use specially tailored football games to teach young folks in the neighborhood on responsible water consumption, in addition to the significance of secure water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).<br/>Zabaleta took part in a youth-led football and water festival and engaged in a Q&A session with young individuals, before learning a conventional Mexican dance.<br/>Reflecting on his go to, Zabaleta mentioned: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was an incredible experience.
