Koh Kham, situated close to Koh Sichang in Chon Buri province, held a conventional activity to have fun the post-Songkran tradition of “Aum Sao Long Nam” — or “Carrying Girls into the Sea”. The occasion is traditionally held annually on April 18 following the Songkran festival. Yesterday marked the primary time the occasion has been held in the past two years because of the pandemic.
The opening ceremony for this year’s version of the Aum Sao Long Nam event was held on Monday morning at Koh Kham Yai Beach. The president of Chon Buri’s Provincial Administrative Organization was in attendance. The event invited locals and travellers, each Thai and foreigners, to make advantage, be a part of a magnificence pageant and have fun with the highlight exercise — carrying ladies into the ocean.
Locals on Koh Kham have been hosting the event since King Rama 5 was in energy. It has historically been held after Songkran as a end result of that’s the proper time when relations or couples met each other. To be part of the exercise, a man will invite a girl he loves — i.e. spouse or girlfriend — or a feminine relative he respects — i.e. mother or elder — after which carry her into the ocean.
