Prince Andrew, the former pal of convicted pedophile and intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein, has reportedly been supplied Frogmore Cottage after King Charles III evicted Prince Harry and his spouse Meghan from their residence.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed the news, however Buckingham Palace has but to touch upon the matter. Harry and Meghan presently reside in California with their two kids, Archie and Lilibet, after quitting their duties as working royals in 2020.
Frogmore Cottage, a Grade-II listed 10-bedroom property on the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, was a marriage present to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth II.
The royal couple spent an estimated £2.4m refurbishing the property in 2018-19, which was initially funded by taxpayers via the Sovereign Grant before being absolutely repaid by the Duke.
Privy recommend that Harry and Meghan were instructed to vacate the property in January, shortly after the discharge of Harry’s memoir, Spare.
The cottage has a rich history, having been inbuilt 1792 by Queen Charlotte, spouse of King George III, as a retreat for herself and her daughters. It has also served as a house for surviving members of Tsar Nicholas II’s family, who fled to the UK following the Bolsheviks’ homicide of different members of the family in 1918.
Prince Andrew, who lives close by in the 31-bedroom Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, has confronted scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein and allegations of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre. He stepped down from his royal duties in 2019 and settled the civil case against him in February 2022, paying an undisclosed sum to Giuffre.
While reviews counsel that King Charles III may minimize Andrew’s annual grant, potentially leaving him unable to cowl the costs of working the property, no official affirmation has been made. The way ahead for Frogmore Cottage and the destiny of its former occupants remain unsure.
Since World War Two, the cottage is believed to have been used as a home for members of the royal household workers, before Prince Harry and Meghan moved in..
