BGEN, which specialises in multi-disciplinary engineering solutions, has achieved substantial carbon and price financial savings for Anglian Water by way of management optimisation initiatives, lowering total emissions by 5,858 tonnes of CO2 and total working costs by £3 million.

On one project, the automation of considered one of Anglian Water’s largest sites, BGEN delivered energy savings in the area of 150,000 every year alongside a significant reduction in out of hours working. BGEN was involved in the full lifecycle of the project from identifying and quantifying the opportunity, building the business case to safe the funding, through to implementing and measuring the success of the works.
The initiatives have been delivered as part of a framework agreement signed in late 2017 and are a half of Anglian Water’s drive to chop its carbon emissions to web zero by 2030. Prior to the beginning of every challenge, BGEN analysed current energy utilization versus optimal rates, after which made modifications to systems to understand energy discount enhancements. Andy O’Rourke, senior advisor at BGEN, said: “We are consultants in each pumps and controls, a rare mix in the utilities sector, and consequently have helped Anglian Water obtain significant emission, power and monetary savings. We are at present scoping out a quantity of other initiatives and hope to offer further savings to the company sooner or later.”
Projects presently in delivery are set to grasp further financial savings of 975 tonnes of embodied CO2, and circa £600,000 of savings per annum.
