A Phuket motorcycle crash injured an aged expat yesterday morning. Chalong Police arrived on the scene on Wiset Road in Rawai to find a international bike rider, 73 year old Georgi Simeonov Georgiev with minor accidents. The other rider involved in the accident was a 31 Thai man named Kittisak Buayai. Georgiev’s nationality was not offered by police.
After reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses, police found that Kittisak was using northbound when Georgiev pulled out from a side avenue. Georgiev was heading in path of the U-turn area within the centre of the road, and he cut in front of Kittisak approaching on his motorcycle, The Phuket New s reported.
Kittisak’s motorbike hit the rear of Georgieve’s bike, and the influence triggered Kittisak to fly through the air and land heavily on the highway.
However, Kittisak was carrying a full-face helmet, and appeared to suffer little to no accidents at all. Meanwhile, Georgiev suffered minor injuries from landing on the highway at a slow pace.
Georgiev’s motorbike ended up metres away within the lanes heading in the reverse direction. Both motorbikes were heavily broken.
Officers introduced the riders and the remains of their motorbikes to Chalong Police Station to resolve the problem, and agree on the damages to be paid.
