Amarinth has delivered two separate orders of API 610 pumps, collectively price £1.2 million, for the West Qurna-2 expansion project in Iraq.

West Qurna-2, positioned roughly 65 km north-west of the seaport city of Basra, is amongst the world’s biggest onshore oilfields. The growth venture is expected to extend the oilfield’s manufacturing capacity from the current 400,000 barrels oil per day (bpd) to 480,000 bpd, with a goal to achieve a complete manufacturing capacity of 800,000 bpd by 2025.
The first order, from Cannon Artes, was for seven tremendous duplex API 610 OH1 pumps. The bespoke designed pumps are for a low shear software and required specialist Plan 53B seal support methods incorporating air cooled seals and stainless-steel accumulators. All electrical objects were IECEx certified to be used in an ATEX Zone 2 hazardous space. Despite the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic during the design and manufacture, supply was achieved in the required time of just 32-weeks from order.
The second order, from SICIM, was for three tremendous duplex API 610 OH3 vertical in-line pumps for produced water therapy. The massive pumps had impellers of over 500mm diameter and the casings, that weigh 1.5 tonnes, were solid in a foundry in the UK. xp2i had been designed to suit within a constrained footprint and as the pumps had been destined for an ATEX Zone 2 space, the motors, seal help systems, and instrumentation were IECEx certified. Witness testing and inspection was undertaken by Bureau Veritas and a full legalised Iraq documentation package deal was delivered with the pumps. Delivery was achieved on a brief 38-weeks, despite the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.
