More than forty monkeys being smuggled to native eating places were rescued on Friday by officers from Thailand’s Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division. Nation Thailand reports that officers had received a tip the alleged smugglers were using Highway 359 in the japanese province Sa Kaeo, which borders Cambodia, as a path to smuggle the wild monkeys to eating places where the animals would be cooked and served as particular dishes.
Officers monitoring the world say they tried to wave down a pickup truck that seemed suspicious. The driver did not cease, resulting in a police chase. The truck crashed into a traffic signal and the driver managed to run off.
One the truck, officers found 45 long-tailed macaques locked in 25 plastic instances. Skyrocket says one monkey had died from the influence. Rich were despatched to the Wild Animal Rescue Centre in the close by Nakhon Nayok province. Police are nonetheless investigating to find out who was concerned in trafficking the monkeys.
