A Thai candy store is going through criticism from many locals and praises from others for making sweet Buddhist amulets, which are usually worn around the neck as ‘protection’ from evil spirits. Madam Choops candy shop in Samut Songkhram, just southwest of Bangkok, says the edible amulets created from Thai sugar candy can defend your internal organs (but in all probability less successful at protecting your teeth). While some say the sugar amulets are disrespectful to Buddhists and may contribute to some dropping religion in Buddhist monks who bless traditional amulets, others have praised the thought to make the candies.
Madam Choops made a submit on Facebook saying the amulets had been made to celebrate Songkran, the Thai New Year in mid-April. Since then, there was a lot curiosity in the Buddha candies that they’ve needed to put current orders on maintain.
