CHERNG TALAY: A 17-year-old boy high on a cocktail of cola and crushed mosquito-repellent coils attacked a Buddhist nun with a meat cleaver in her quarters in the morning of August 19. The nun obtained 205 stitches for sixteen wounds to her head and upper physique and is alleged to be in a “worrisome” situation at Wachira Phuket Hospital. The attacker, a youth with Dutch and Thai parentage, was arrested at his home at 5:20 pm the identical day for the assault at Bang Tao Temple. He confessed to the tried homicide of 62-year-old Cheun Sooksawat. Sorn told police that he had stayed up with associates the night time before grinding up mosquito coils, mixing them with cola, and drinking the concoction so as to get high. Kickstart to sleep and for causes still unknown, he headed off to the nearby temple, and finding himself thirsty, he entered the nun’s quarters in search of water.
