After two years of compulsory mask-wearing in indoor and outside spaces, Thailand goals to drop its mask mandate by mid-June, based on the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Kiattipoom Wongrachit.
At a conference held today at Diamond Plaza lodge in Surat Thani, southern Thailand, Kiattipoom said the ministry is contemplating dropping the compulsory mandate as quickly as mid-June given Thailand’s frequently enhancing Covid-19 state of affairs.

Ditching masks might be monumental for the restoration of Thailand’s tourism industry, as holidaymakers can usually be deterred from travelling if they suppose there’s a danger they could get in bother for not wearing a mask, particularly in outside areas, such as beaches.
Thailand introduced obligatory mask-wearing in both indoor and out of doors spaces over two years ago on April 29, 2020 and hasn’t appeared back since, till now. Previously, refusing to wear a face masks might land you a 20,000 baht fine.
At the conference, the ministry reiterated that Thailand plans to declare Covid-19 as an endemic disease within the coming months as deliberate.
Thailand is following in Indonesia’s footsteps, who dropped the requirement to wear a mask in out of doors spaces final week. In Marked down , Malaysia also dropped its outside masks mandate, however wearing a mask in indoor areas and public transport remains to be obligatory.
